Pick your vehicle from the catalog: make, model, engine
In DriveBattle you pick your motorcycle or car from a catalog of 176 car makes and 154 motorcycle makes. You work from the make through model series, generation and engine down to the model year, and the app shows only the next level that makes sense for your vehicle. If your model is missing, you type it in by hand.
What the catalog contains
The catalog lists 176 car makes and 154 motorcycle makes. Each make has model series. Below them, depending on the model, come generations with a chassis code (for the 3er Cabrio, E93), body styles, engines with power in PS, and model years. The catalog lives on the server, so new entries arrive without an app update.
How to add a vehicle
Open Settings, then "Vehicles", and tap "Add vehicle". In the "New vehicle" dialog you first choose "Car" or "Motorcycle". The fields follow from top to bottom. During first-time setup the same catalog sits in the "Your vehicle" step, as long as your garage is empty. You can skip that step.
The levels at a glance
The fields are called "Make", "Model series", "Generation", "Engine (type)" and "Model year". A field appears only once the one above it is set. "Generation" shows the chassis code with the body style, for example "E93 · Cabrio". If a series has no generations but several body styles, the field is called "Body style" instead. "Engine (type)" appears only when the variant has more than one engine, with entries such as "325i · 218 PS". "Model year" appears only when more than one period is left after your choice and you have not picked an engine. Where variant or engine has just one option, the app picks it for you.
Search, Popular, Enter manually
Each field opens a sheet with a search box ("Search…"). For the make, popular makes sit at the top under "Popular", followed by the list "All". Once you type, "Popular" disappears and the list filters as you go. If your text matches no row, the sheet offers "Enter manually" with your text. For make and model series, that lets you add vehicles the catalog does not have. You clear a field with the entry "none" at the top of the list.
What your vehicle is called
The app builds the model from your choices. BMW, 3er, generation E93 Cabrio and the 325i engine with 218 PS give "BMW 3er (E93) Cabrio 325i · 218 PS (12/2006 - 02/2010)". There is no nickname, the name follows from make and model. In the garage the vehicle card shows make and model as the title, with the generation beside it as a small chip, for example E93.
What make and model are used for
In the Battle tab the filter "Model comparison" offers your vehicles by make and model. Pick one and the leaderboard shows only riders with the same make and model entry. The model entry carries every level you chose, down to engine and model year. Maintenance matches make, model and generation against stored manufacturer values and suggests fitting intervals where there are any. Vehicles without a match get general suggestions.
Changing it later
When you edit a vehicle, the picker opens with the saved values. DriveBattle maps model and generation back onto the levels, and you change only what changes. If you switch one level, the app resets all levels below it. If you delete a vehicle, its drives stay.
Limits of the catalog
The catalog is a selection aid. Its data comes from a spare-parts catalog and can have gaps, which is what manual entry is for. The vehicle catalog is not a Premium feature. The engine level is described on the page about engine detail, the Bluetooth auto-start per vehicle on the page about Bluetooth assignment.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I add a vehicle in DriveBattle?
- Open Settings, then "Vehicles", tap "Add vehicle", choose "Car" or "Motorcycle" and work through the fields from the make downward. At first launch the same selection sits in the "Your vehicle" step.
- Which makes are in the catalog?
- 176 car makes and 154 motorcycle makes. Under "Popular" the cars include Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi, the motorcycles Honda, Yamaha, BMW and Kawasaki. You see the full list in the "Make" field under "All".
- My vehicle is not in the catalog. What can I do?
- Type the name into the search box and choose "Enter manually". That works for make and model series. The vehicle then shows up in your garage like any other.
- Why does the app not always ask for generation, engine and year?
- A field appears only when your choice so far leaves more than one option. For variant and engine the app picks a single option itself. The model year drops out as soon as you pick an engine.
- Where do I find my vehicle's model designation?
- In DriveBattle you do not need it up front. You go from the make through the levels step by step, and each shows only matching entries. Where the designation sits on the vehicle is not answered on this page.
- Can I change my selection later?
- Yes. When you edit, the picker opens with the saved values, and you change the levels that change. If you delete a vehicle, its drives stay.
