Pick countries and regions
Under Settings, Offline maps you choose a country or a region. Before the download the app shows a size estimate. Large downloads need your confirmation.
Download in the background
The download keeps running in the background. You can pause it, and after a network loss the app resumes where it stopped. A finished file is checked for damage before it counts.
The map comes from your phone
The app reads map tiles from the downloaded files first and asks the network only after that. The map data comes from OpenStreetMap. In a dead zone the map stays put, also during navigation.
Staying up to date
Each region has its own version. When a new map appears for one country, the others do not count as outdated. The app loads updates automatically on Wi-Fi only. Over mobile data an update button shows up instead.
Map and route load separately
The offline map shows the map. For routing without a signal you also load the navigation data per country, on the same screen. Round trips, the curvy candidate search, the speed limit lookup and "Follow me" still need a connection.
Storage at a glance
The screen shows how much space the maps take and how many regions are loaded. Update all and delete all each have a button. Deleting always works, also without Premium.
Offline maps are Premium
Offline maps are part of Premium. During the beta everything is unlocked. After that Premium is paid, the purchase runs through Google Play and Google Play shows the price. Without Premium, downloaded maps stay on the device but are not used.
