GDPR data export: take your data with you as a file

Your data belongs to you. In DriveBattle you get a copy in one click in the web dashboard, as a JSON file with your profile, settings, vehicles, crews and all your rides. The export is not a Premium feature.

How to start the export

Log in at drivebattle.com/login with the same credentials you use in the app. In the dashboard you find the section "Data export". One click on "Export my data" downloads the file drivebattle-export.json. The export only runs after you log in and contains only the data of your own account.

What the file contains

The file is JSON, a text format that any editor opens and other programs can read. It holds the date of the export, your profile (ID, email address, display name, bio, registration date, total kilometres), your settings, your vehicles, your crews with your role and all your rides. Each ride carries its name, start and end, distance, duration, pause time, average and top speed, elevation gain, lean angle and number of curves.

What the file leaves out

The dashboard export is the short version. The GPS points of your rides are missing: for each ride the file only says whether a track exists. Messages, favourites, badges and XP are not included either. Your password is never in the file.

Full access under Art. 15 and 20 GDPR

If you need more than the short version, use your right of access (Art. 15 GDPR) and your right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). The DriveBattle privacy policy lists both rights and names the contact of the controller.

Before you delete your account

You delete your account in the app under Settings, Account, or in the dashboard. It becomes invisible to others at once. If you log in again within 30 days, it is reactivated; after that your data is deleted for good. The privacy policy names the exceptions. If you want to keep your data, export it first.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the data export in DriveBattle?
In the web dashboard at drivebattle.com/login, in the section "Data export". The button is called "Export my data".
What format does the export come in?
As one JSON file named drivebattle-export.json. Any text editor opens it, and many programs read JSON directly.
Are the GPS tracks of my rides in the export?
No. The dashboard export lists the key figures of each ride and whether a track exists, but not the individual GPS points. You save the route of a ride as a GPX file; that is a Premium feature.
Is the data export a Premium feature?
No. The export of your account does not depend on Premium status. Only the GPX export of a ride is Premium.
Can someone else export my data?
No. The export only starts in a logged-in account and delivers only that account's data.
How do I get a full access report under GDPR?
The privacy policy describes your right of access (Art. 15) and to data portability (Art. 20). It also names the controller: CybeLabs UG (haftungsbeschränkt), email [email protected].
What happens to my data when I delete my account?
The account is deactivated at once and invisible to others. Logging in again within 30 days brings it back. After that the data is deleted for good.
