Navigate a ride you rode before: ride again as a route
Yesterday's tour was just right, and today you want to ride it once more. In DriveBattle for Android you choose “Ride again” on one of your own rides. The app lays your recording on the road network and navigates it with voice guidance, the way you rode it.
How to start
Open a ride in the rides list and tap “Ride again” in the menu. In the ride summary the same function is a card with the hint “Navigate this drive turn by turn”. A screen with a map opens where you set up the route, then you tap “Start navigation”.
Trim the start and end
Under “Trim the route” you drag the handles to cut off the start or the end. This helps if the recording begins at your front door or you only want to ride the nice middle part. The map shows the chosen route.
Round trip: pick the entry point
On a round trip there is a section “Starting point”. With “Choose” you decide where you join the route: “On a round trip you can start anywhere along the route”. The app then rotates the loop so that it begins and ends at your point. On round trips the navigation reports the destination only after you have been more than 150 m away from the end at some point, so that “Destination reached” does not come right at the start.
From points to roads
The recording consists of GPS points, which do not lie exactly on the road. The DriveBattle server lays them on the road network and delivers real turn instructions with spoken announcements. It calculates long and overlapping routes in sections of about 25 km and checks the result against the expected length. You need a connection for this while you set up the ride.
The app tells you what is missing
If part of the route could not be laid on roads, the app tells you, for example “Only 80% of the route could be matched to roads - part of it is missing”. A message appears when less than three quarters of the expected length comes together. The app then does not silently navigate a shortened route.
The route stays the route
With “Ride again” there is no profile choice and there are no alternatives. The navigation follows exactly the route you set up, and the destination is its end point. If you deviate, the app recalculates as in any navigation. The announcements are the same as usual, and you can adjust them in the settings.
Your own rides only, free
“Ride again” exists for your own rides, and it is free. Other people's rides are not available for it, not even for crew members. If you want to ride someone else's tour, you need a route that person has shared. You can make such a route from your own ride yourself, the page “Share routes” describes how. Riding other people's routes is Premium.
