Plan a group ride: your crew's calendar

The Sunday ride is on, but nobody knows who is coming. In DriveBattle for Android, every crew member can add an event to the crew calendar: with a time, a meeting point and, if you like, an attendee limit. The others reply going, maybe or can't make it, and the crew gets a notification.

How to open the calendar

Open your crew in the Crews tab. The calendar sits behind the quick action “Events” and behind the “Calendar” button next to the “Upcoming” list. The next event stands at the top as “Up next”. Below it, the app sorts the upcoming events into “Today”, “This weekend”, “This week” and “Later”. Past events are under “Past”, the last 20. Every crew member sees all events of the crew, including those created before they joined.

Create an event

With “New event” you create an event. Every crew member may do this, not only the owner. You enter a title of up to 120 characters, pick a date and a time and, if you like, add a meeting point, a description and an attendee limit. Three presets save typing: “Sunday ride” sets the next Sunday at 10:00, “Meetup” the next Saturday at 15:00 and “Regulars’ table” the next Thursday at 19:00. You can change date and time freely afterwards. There is no repeat for weekly events, you create a regulars’ table anew each time. As the creator you are automatically in.

Meeting point with navigation

For the meeting point you type a name or an address. The app suggests places, and a tap on a suggestion saves the name together with the coordinate. The green place icon shows that the coordinate is set. If you edit the text by hand, the coordinate is dropped until you pick a suggestion again. For an event with a coordinate, the meeting point is shown in orange with a navigation icon beside it. A tap on it starts navigation to the meeting point. Without a coordinate, the meeting point stays a text that the crew reads.

Going, maybe, can't make it

Under each event the app asks “Are you in?”. You pick “I'm in”, “Maybe” or “Can't make it” and can change the answer at any time. The event shows how many are in and how many might come, and with a limit it shows the number as “3/8 going”. Once the limit is reached, the app accepts no further “I'm in”. An event can have between 2 and 500 attendees. Those who pick “Maybe” or “Can't make it” do not count against the limit. The first “I'm in” to a crew event unlocks a badge.

Notification and reminder

A new event goes out as a notification to all crew members except the person who creates it. The same applies to changes to title, time or place and to a cancellation, each except for the person who makes it. The event also appears in the crew feed with “planned an event”, and a change marks the card as “Updated”. The reminder “Tomorrow: title - are you in?” goes out once to everyone who picked “I'm in” or “Maybe”. It comes as soon as the event is less than 24 hours away and a member opens the crew or the calendar. If an event is moved, the reminder is armed again for the new time. In the crew's notification settings “Crew events” can be chosen, and the level “Only highlights” lets live, events and champion titles through.

Edit and cancel

The creator of the event and the owner of the crew may edit and cancel. A cancellation does not delete the event: it stays visible with the mark “Canceled” so everyone sees it is off. Nobody can reply to a canceled event any more.

Calendar, feed and chat

The calendar is meant for planning, other parts of the crew handle the talking. New events land in the crew feed, arrangements run in the crew chat, and whoever is already out is on the live map. The events stay in the crew and cannot be transferred to the phone's calendar or to other calendar apps.

Frequently asked questions

How do I plan a group ride with my crew?
Open the crew, tap “Events” and then “New event”. Enter a title, date, time and, if you like, a meeting point. The crew gets a notification and can reply.
Can crew members say yes or no?
Yes. Under each event every member picks “I'm in”, “Maybe” or “Can't make it”. The answer can be changed at any time, and the event shows how many are in.
Can I limit the number of attendees?
Yes, with an attendee limit between 2 and 500. Once it is reached, the app accepts no further “I'm in”. The limit is optional.
Who gets a reminder for the event?
Everyone who picked “I'm in” or “Maybe”, once and less than 24 hours before the event. It is triggered when a member opens the crew or the calendar in that time.
Who may change or cancel an event?
The creator of the event and the owner of the crew. A cancellation marks the event as “Canceled” and does not delete it.
Are there recurring events or an export to my phone calendar?
No. You cannot repeat an event, you create it anew. The events stay in the crew and cannot be transferred to other calendar apps.
Is the crew calendar part of Premium?
No, the calendar is not on the Premium list. Premium includes the curvy navigation and the offline maps, among others.
